Refrigerant Charge Calculator — Superheat
Why does my target subcool come from the nameplate?
Target subcooling is set by the equipment manufacturer for that condenser, refrigerant circuit, and metering strategy. Generic ranges such as 8-12 F are only rough starting points and should not override the unit data plate. Charging to the listed target helps keep capacity and compressor reliability in spec.
