Steps
Assess Foundation Condition
- Inspect for cracks and damage
- Check moisture levels

Prepare Foundation Surface
- Clean walls thoroughly
- Repair major cracks
- Remove loose material
- Ensure surface is dry

Apply Interior Waterproofing
- Apply waterproofing membrane
- Install drainage mat if needed
- Seal all penetrations
- Allow proper curing time

Install Drainage System
- Install perimeter drain
- Connect to sump pump
- Add gravel backfill
- Test drainage flow

Apply Exterior Waterproofing
- Excavate foundation perimeter

- Install protection board
- Backfill with proper materials
Code notes
- OSHA 1926 Subpart P: trenches ≥5 ft require a protective system (sloping, benching, shoring, or shielding); ≥20 ft requires an RPE-designed system. Spoils ≥2 ft from edge. Ladder/ramp egress within 25 ft when ≥4 ft deep.
- Daily inspection by a competent person required before each shift in any trench.
