    Steps

    01

    Assess Foundation Condition

    • Inspect for cracks and damage
    • Check moisture levels
    • Identify water entry points
    • Document existing conditions

    Prepare Foundation Surface

    • Repair major cracks

    Code notes
    • OSHA 1926 Subpart P: trenches ≥5 ft require a protective system (sloping, benching, shoring, or shielding); ≥20 ft requires an RPE-designed system. Spoils ≥2 ft from edge. Ladder/ramp egress within 25 ft when ≥4 ft deep.
    • Daily inspection by a competent person required before each shift in any trench.
    • Call 811 before any dig (federal Common Ground Alliance standard).
