Steps
Remove Old Vanity (if applicable)
- Turn off water at shutoffs; disconnect supply lines and P-trap; have bucket and towels ready
- Remove countertop (may be caulked to wall — cut seal with utility knife)
- Unscrew cabinet from wall studs; remove vanity; plug drain opening to limit sewer gas
- Take photos of plumbing layout; save usable shutoff valves
Position and Level New Vanity
- Set vanity in place against wall; align with drain and supply lines
- Check level side-to-side and front-to-back; slide shims under base as needed
- Mark stud locations on wall through back rail; ensure mounting screws will hit studs
Secure Cabinet to Wall
- Drill pilot holes into studs through back rail or hanging bracket
- Drive screws (e.g. 2½–3 in) into studs; do not rely on drywall alone
- Recheck level after securing; add or adjust shims; trim shims flush if needed
Install Countertop and Sink
- Set countertop on cabinet; secure per manufacturer (clips, adhesive, or screws from below)
- Apply bead of silicone where countertop meets wall if specified
- Install sink: drop-in use putty or gasket under rim; undermount per kit instructions
- Connect faucet to sink; install drain assembly and pop-up linkage; leave supply and trap for next step
Connect Plumbing
- Connect supply lines from shutoffs to faucet tailpieces; hand-tight + ¼ turn
- Install P-trap from sink tailpiece to wall drain; use slip nuts and washers; align without stressing pipes
- Hand-tighten trap nuts; avoid over-tightening plastic
- Turn water on slowly; check all connections and faucet base for leaks
Test and Finish
- Run hot and cold water; test drain and pop-up
- Caulk along backsplash and base per preference; clean squeeze-out
- Reinstall doors/drawers; adjust hinges or slides as needed
