Fix a slow or overflowing washer drain by clearing the standpipe, trap, and branch line, and setting the correct standpipe height to stop future backups.

Steps
Assess Symptoms
- Observe overflow point (standpipe vs. floor drain)
- Run small fill/drain to replicate
- Note gurgling or slow drain sounds
- Locate nearest cleanout

Check Standpipe and Trap
- Remove drain hose; inspect for lint build-up
- Snake trap with 1/4–3/8 in auger
- Flush with hot water and enzyme cleaner
- Re-seat drain hose to 6–8 in depth
✅Continue Gate:Trap cleared and flowing?
Snake Branch Line
- Open cleanout downstream
- Snake 15–25 ft toward main
- Retrieve lint clogs; flush repeatedly
- Re-test washer drain
✅Continue Gate:Branch line free-flowing?
Address Vent Issues
- Listen for vacuum/gurgle
- Snake vent from roof if safe or use alternative vent check
- Ensure proper AAV or vent tie-in
- Re-test after vent work

Final Flush and Monitor
- Run full drain cycle with high flow
- Check for leaks at standpipe and trap
- Clean area; dispose of wastewater safely
- Educate on lint filter use and periodic enzyme treatment
