Turn Off Water & Power
- Locate main shutoff valve
- Turn off water completely
- Turn off irrigation controller power
- Relieve pressure by opening a zone briefly

Access the Valve
- Dig carefully around valve box
- Remove valve box cover
- Clean area around valve
- Identify valve type and connections
Test Electrical Components
- Check solenoid resistance with multimeter
- Verify controller output voltage
- Test wiring continuity
- If solenoid is faulty, disconnect leads, unthread old solenoid, install matching replacement, and reconnect waterproof wire splices
