What does the free sampler cover?
Chapter 1 in full — the plumbing profession, jobsite roles, apprenticeship structure (OJL vs. RTI), documentation, workmanship and ethics, and a systems overview — plus 18 practice questions with an answer key. No email required.
Is this guide really free?
Yes. The Chapter 1 sampler downloads instantly with no email. The Part 1 edition (Chapters 1–4, covering safety, tools, and layout math) is free too — we just ask for an email so we can send the PDF and future study material.
What's the difference between OJL and RTI?
OJL (On-the-Job Learning) is supervised field work; RTI (Related Training Instruction) is classroom or lab-based code, math, and plan-reading instruction. Registered apprenticeships combine both and track them separately — the guide explains how to document each.
Does this replace a registered apprenticeship program?
No. This guide is a study aid that supplements — not replaces — a registered apprenticeship, employer safety training, and OSHA-required instruction. Use it to prep for RTI coursework and journeyman exam questions.
Which codes does the guide reference?
Concepts follow model-code (IPC/UPC) conventions common across jurisdictions. Always confirm exact requirements against the code edition your local AHJ has adopted.
