    Scope

    Install a frost-proof outdoor spigot pitched for drainage with a backflow preventer, protecting the supply line from freezing and winter burst damage.

    Steps

    01

    Locate & Mark Installation

    • Choose location (avoid structural elements)
    • Mark center point
    • Ensure 12–18 in clearance for frost protection
    Continue Gate:Location suitable and marked?
    02

    Turn Off Water Supply

    • Locate main shutoff valve
    • Turn off completely
    • Open lowest faucet to drain pressure
    Continue Gate:Water pressure relieved?

    Drill Penetration Hole

    • Use appropriate hole saw size
    • Drill from outside in
    • Clean up edges and debris

    Install Spigot Assembly

    • Insert spigot through hole
    • Secure mounting flange
    • Connect to water line with proper fittings
    Code notes
    • Frost-proof or interior shutoff with bleed required in freezing climates (IPC §305.4 / UPC §313).
    • Backflow protection required (IPC §608): AVB (ASSE 1001) for non-continuous-pressure or PVB (ASSE 1020) when valve is downstream of the device.

    Test & Seal

    • Turn water back on slowly
    • Check for leaks at all connections
    • Test spigot operation
    • Seal penetration with appropriate caulk

    Winterize & Maintain

    • Install freeze-proof cap
    • Consider backflow preventer if required
    • Document installation for future reference
