EER
Energy Efficiency Ratio—a measure of air conditioner cooling efficiency at a single operating condition (typically 95°F outdoor). EER = cooling capacity (BTU/hr) ÷ power input (watts). Higher EER means better efficiency. EER2 is the updated test standard where required by code.
