    MERV

Minimum Efficiency Reporting Value—a filter rating scale (1–16) that measures a filter's ability to capture particles of specific sizes. Higher MERV means better filtration but may restrict airflow; balance MERV with system capacity. MERV 8–11 common for residential; MERV 13+ for enhanced filtration.

    Common symptoms

    • Reduced airflow
    • High static pressure
    • System strain

    Common repairs

    • Filter replacement with correct MERV
    • Filter size verification
