Anti-Islanding
A mandatory inverter safety function that shuts solar output off within milliseconds when the grid goes down, so the system cannot backfeed power onto lines crews may be repairing.
Common uses
Built into all certified grid-tied inverters (UL 1741)
Safety note
Anti-islanding protects utility line workers. Never bypass or defeat it on a grid-connected inverter.
