Solenoid Valve & Coil
An electrically actuated valve whose coil energizes to shift or open a refrigerant or gas port. In heat pumps the coil pilots the reversing valve; liquid-line solenoids stop refrigerant flow during pump-down and off cycles.
Common uses
Piloting the reversing valve, liquid-line shutoff, pump-down control
Common symptoms
- Will not switch modes
- Refrigerant migrates during off cycle
- No click when energized
