HEPA Filter
High-Efficiency Particulate Air filter — by US DOE definition, captures at least 99.97% of particles 0.3 microns in diameter (the most-penetrating particle size). Used in standalone air purifiers and dedicated whole-house bypass filtration; cannot be installed in a typical central-HVAC filter slot because of the static pressure they impose on residential blowers.
