AFUE
Annual Fuel Utilization Efficiency—a standardized measure of how efficiently a furnace or boiler converts fuel to heat over a typical heating season. Expressed as a percentage; higher ratings indicate better efficiency. Minimum 80% for new gas furnaces; 90%+ for high-efficiency condensing units.
